The Solstice is here! Time for the ancient tradition of hanging the evergreens and the mistletoe. Time to make the Wassail and drink to the Oak King, who battles and defeats the Holly King today. Early Christians coincided their celebration of the Christ Child's birth with the Solstice (although in the Middle Ages, Epiphany in January was a far more importantly recognized day than Christmas).
The wheel of the year moves toward light again, and even on this shortest day, we can be glad that the sun is growing in strength.
I wish you all a happy, healthy Yuletide that is blessed in every way!

Happy Yule to you, Mary. Dave and I will be lifting a glass to all our faraway friends tonight, so know we're sending you a good thought.
PS. Love that Erte, I've never seen it before.
May you and Phil enjoy your potables, with all the requisite spirit...
Joining you in loving camaraderie.
Be blessed.
That is an awesome Erte -- I've never seen it before, either. Sorry I'm late chiming in, but Happy Yule to you and Hooray for the Oak King!
